Sustainability may be even more challenging for big families with young kids and teenagers. Parents are extremely busy on all fronts, professional, family, and personal. Are there any quick wins to share? On my side, I’d say “Start small” (always with the bigger picture in mind, our Planet). Follow home waste recycling properly and get the kids involved. For instance, they can help sorting organic waste, that you have a garden with a compost bin or not. They also like to help collecting batteries and take them to the collection point at school. If there isn’t one, it’s a good opportunity to speak with the teacher and initiate a process. Also, given the number of washing machines you have to handle, you can switch to the best ecological cleaning agents that the market can offer. Making your own can require a bit more time and commitment. I had tried it myself and then dropped it. As a matter of fact, I have entirely switched to ecological cleaning products. I also use a lot of hot water and vinegar for part of the cleaning. What’s your recommendation?
My friends with kids shared that living close to school help reduce car transportation. They buy second hand toys and clothes. Pass on clothes from one kid to the other.
