Clickbait headline aside, I think the article makes a good point. Free movement of people and good becomes much more challenging when neither people nor goods can move... freely.
That said, I'm only theoretically familiar with things like supply chains (or, you know, math...) and so would love to have responses from those with a more industrial or business-oriented background.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Mleiha archeological center, and it was fascinating to revisit how trade and globalization have been there since the origin of humans obviously at a different pace and a different scale. Global trade is one of the reasons why we evolved, and coronavirus will not stop this. Supply chain and communication will change and maybe for the better. I see here a significant impact coming from technology and AI, I see communication done virtually and a drawing sent to a 3D printer located to the opposite part of the world; I see data traveling and no more goods.
Ooooo! The 3D printer thing sounds very exciting.
